Health Sciences Facilities: Understanding the Interior Needs of High-Performance, Multifaceted Education Spaces

Health Sciences Facilities are among the most complicated and hardest-working spaces on a college or university campus. The interior design must support the dedicated programs housed within as well as ancillary spaces designed for use by the entire campus. This webcast will explore strategies for supporting these activities with space planning, intentional adjacencies, resource allocation, and appropriate finishes. Case study examples from several recently constructed health sciences facilities will be included.

Learning Objectives:

  • Discuss concepts integral to the design of highly functional health science learning spaces.
  • Identify strategies for specifying finishes that meet the needs of both the simulated clinical environment and the supporting academic spaces.
  • Learn ways to support a 24/7 student population with safe and comfortable spaces.
  • Learn ways to design spaces for academic flexibility as well as to suit the needs of the broader campus community.
